Soup to recover from diarrhea: How to make them

1. Rice and carrot soup

With the food restrictions imposed by a stomach ailment, rice cannot be a left out. When recovering from a diarrhea, this grain is an extraordinary and effective source of nutrients to decrease discomfort. This is confirmed by this study carried out by the McGill University (Canada).


  • A big carrot
  • 1 little onion
  • Half a cup of rice (100 g)
  • 1 branch of a coriander or parsley
  • The juice of half a lemon
  • Three cups of chicken broth (750 ml)
  • 1 branch of a mint
  • An Extra virgin olive oil
  • Two grilled chicken breasts, without their skin (about 150 g)


  • Heat a chicken broth in a pot.
  • Add the peeled and chopped carrot into little pieces, and add the chopped onion.
  • Once it a boils, add the rice, parsley, coriander, and mint.
  • Leave on low heat for at least twenty minutes or until the rice is soft and the carrot is cooked.
  • Remove an onion and herbs.
  • Rectify the amount of a salt.
  • Chop the chicken breasts into long strips and place them on the griddle, seasoned only with a salt. Do not use any kind of dressings or seasonings.
  • Serve by placing the chicken strips on top, sprinkled with a some drops of extra virgin olive oil and a splash of lemon.

2. Soup with chicken noodles, celery, and carrot

As suggested by this study by the National Institute of Health and Nutrition (Japan), noodles, such as rice, and in combination with chicken and carrots, are even common in soups to recover from diarrhea. It’s a kind of light pasta that’s easy to chew and digest.

This recipe is best for the little ones in the house. Among its positive values, the rapid restoration of hunger stands out, thanks to the properties of celery in the recovery of a stomach flora.


Two chicken breasts, without their skin (120 g)
Two small celery stalks
Three medium carrots, cut into pieces
Two potatoes, diced into pieces
One leek
One large onion, chopped in 2
Four sprigs of parsley
Two cups of noodles for soup (250 g)
Eight cups of water (2 liters)
a Salt (to taste)


Season the 2 chicken breasts with only a little bit of salt.
Wash and chop every the vegetables. Place in the pot with 2 liters of water at high heat.
Incorporate the 2 chicken breasts. Let them boil for at least ten minutes.
Add the sprigs of a parsley. Keep cooking until the potatoes and carrots are a tender.
Add the noodles and boil for 5 minutes.
When serving, you can place toast in little pieces. This addition gives a crisp finish, for adults and children.

3. Chicken consomme

  • Ingredients
  • 2 chicken thighs
  • Two medium carrots
  • Two medium potatoes
  • One clove of garlic
  • Half an onion
  • One leek
  • Two sprigs of parsley
  • Eight cups of water (2 liters)
  • Two slices of toast
  • a Salt (to taste)


  • Thoroughly wash the chicken and burn a possible debris from the fire.
  • Clean all the vegetables, cut them in 2 , and place them in a big pot.
  • Add 2 liters of water to the pot. Next, add the garlic, the leek, and the sprigs of a parsley. Finally, add a chicken.
  • Place the pot on a high heat. When it starts to boil, lower the heat. Cook for at least 2 hours or until the chicken is tender.
  • Add salt to taste and leave 5 more minutes.
  • To a serve, pour the broth. Select a deep dish and place pieces of toasted bread on top.
